Abstract
This book employs a feminist exegetical approach, balanced by confessional hermeneutics, to the interpretation of John's Gospel. In particular, the book explores the motifs of symbol and gender within the Fourth Gospel. The author argues that symbols do more than simply adorn the narrative framework, and that a consideration of both symbol and gender as interpretive loci can unveil the hidden contours of the Gospel's theology.
